Why do I play multiple card games? What obstacles have I encountered and what’s my favorite card game?

OK, so in order:

Why do I play multiple card games?

I’ve found that playing many different TCGs has not only enriched my gaming experience, but has also given a feel for how games are designed, marketed and played. I was never satisfied with just one game or even using just one deck. I always wanted to play more games to both learn more card interactions and meet more people.

What obstacles have I encountered?

Money, playing even one card game is a huge financial investment depending how seriously you take it. Building a “competitive” deck in either Yugioh or Magic (the games I’m most serious about) can run you easily upwards of $300. I’ve managed to play multiple TCGs both due to good fortune and the fact that I’ve been for the longest time more focused on playing each game casually (which I do want to change soon, but that’s a topic for a later post).

What’s my favorite card game?

Once again in order:

1) Yugioh

2) Magic the Gathering

3) Pokemon-Naruto-My Little Pony (3-Way Tie for 3rd)

The reasons for this deserves its own post so I’ll leave it at that for now.

  1. I must say I approve of that card game ranking but I take outrage with your slanderous comments towards people who play only one card game with one deck. OUTRAGE I SAY!
